Growing our own food in the Kisoro hills

Growing our own food in the Kisoro hills

Beans, cabbages, maize and Irish potatoes grown on our own land — food security for the children and a lesson in self-reliance.

At Imbabazi Centre for Women and Children we grow our own food, as one of our activities to support the wellbeing of the children and caregivers while promoting self-reliance.

We grow different food crops such as beans, cabbages, maize and Irish potatoes. Agriculture provides an opportunity for ICWAC to make productive use of available land and to encourage sustainable livelihood practices.

Through farming we aim at improving food security and nutrition — for the children in our care and for the caregiver households around us.
